BACKGROUND:
The first settlers of Karatikus were in bad luck, although the conditions on the planet did not seem bad at the time of colonization, the first colonists of Karatikus knew otherwise. High Gamma and Beta radiation caused a lot of the populace to die within the first year of terrible mutations. The 23% who survived, did so with mutations ranging from: tumors and extra limbs(redundant) to actual working organs in sometimes the most strangest of forms: extra lungs, hearts, additional ribs and altered bone-structure to a near stone-like skin or IR vision.
Although a lot of the research teams on Crius wanted to examine and maybe cure the victims of the radiation, The Order Church did not want a cure, but annihilation. From the moment it was clear that the people of Karatikus were not going to be rejected by the normal populace, The Order Church made sure that the followers of The Order would make their lives miserable.
Soon after The Darkening, A war between The Order and The Federation broke out. The real reasons are still unclear but suspicions were that Karatikus was the main reason. As many do know, the First battle of the Second Tri-system War was held in orbit of Karatikus at which the Federation was victorious. To prevend further conflict, the Order and Federation made a peace treaty, with one of the demands that the Order was allowed to build a Church on Karatikus to pray their beliefs. This ofcourse resulted a lot of unrest after the war.
After the war had ended, a lot of people of the Tri-System looked upon the Karatikus populace differently, believing them to be the reason for the war.
Al mutants that are still alive on the planet are direct decendents from the old settlers. Some new kinds of mutations are found every day and are looked upon with suspicion.
Up until now it is known that the Jinchilla Pirate clan consist of mutants and is suspected to have his origins here.
